Nutrition Counselling

Tailored guidance and support optimizing a pet’s overall well-being through proper dietary choices.

Whether your pet is a picture of optimal health, or they are on the chunky side, a nutritional consultation can do wonders for their overall well-being. After a one-on-one check-up, our veterinarian can make recommendations on products, feeding style, supplements and portion sizes to help your pet lose weight, gain weight, or maintain their current size. Pets who are pregnant, senior age, newborns and those with health conditions can also benefit from a personalized diet plan. Call us at 905-885-8151 so we can ensure your pet has the best fuel possible to keep them going.

What are the best foods for dogs and cats?

It all depends on their breed, age, lifestyle and any underlying health conditions. This is the benefit of nutrition counselling. It is almost like having a personal chef and trainer for your pet. For example, if your pet is a newborn, our veterinarians can recommend the best products that will support their growth and development. If they have allergies or a chronic condition then we can also recommend supplements, prescription food and other therapies to manage their diagnoses.

Are raw food diets safe for pets?

Raw diets are one of the latest trends among pet owners the world over. Here at Ganaraska, we recommend you proceed with caution when it comes to experimenting with this type of diet. There is simply not enough scientific studies conducted to prove the efficacy of raw food diets for dogs, cats and other pets. In fact, they may even cause some harm to your pets including dental damage, parasitic infections and more. Please consult with one of our veterinarians first if you are considering putting your pet on a 100% raw diet. You will need to pay even more attention and take extra care if you choose to go down this route.
