Grooming

Regular grooming is vital to keeping your pet happy and healthy.

We often refer to them as furry friends, but did you know some dogs actually have hair instead of fur? Maltese, Havanese and other breeds have hair that does not remain dormant and is constantly growing. This means unlike their pals with fur, their hair does not shed as much and will require more frequent cutting and grooming for maintenance. Hair or fur – many types of pets need grooming not only to look beautiful, but also to stay hygienic and healthy. In addition to our medical services, we also provide a full roster of grooming care for our patients. Call us at 905-885-8151 for more details. Pro Tip: Our clients often get their dogs groomed after coming in for a routine check-up to save time!

Do dogs really need professional grooming?

Yes. Many people think professional grooming is simply brushing, shampooing and trimming a dog’s coat but there is so much more to that. We perform ear cleanings, nail trimmings, anal gland expressions and more for a comprehensive maintenance care experience. Our staff can also check for any signs of illness that may need further inspection by our veterinarians. There are certain things you can do at home, but it is always best to supplement them with professional grooms at least once every 8 weeks.

Do cats need to be groomed?

As you may already know, cats naturally “groom” or clean themselves by licking. Unfortunately, extra productive felines may lick too much and become susceptible to uncomfortable hairballs. One way to prevent this is by brushing your cat daily (if they allow you). You can also have their hair shaved or buzzed a couple of times per year. Feel free to call us to learn more.

How much does it cost to get a dog groomed?

It will depend on your furry pal’s size, coat type, and the specific grooming services you choose. For our most current service rates, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
